I am unable to log into my google account on Microsoft Edge but I can through google Chrome

Hello,

I really like using Microsoft Edge browser and prefer it over chrome. However, for the past month or so, I have been unable to log into my google account through Microsoft Edge and it just says "Something went wrong" . I am simultaneously also asking google support for any guidance but to me it sounds as though this may be a problem with edge as I am able to log into my account through google chrome.

Any guidance is much appreciated

    Before we start with some troubleshooting steps, please let me know if you had any change on Edge for the past month (updates, add-in extensions, setting).

    In the meantime, you can try the following solutions in order, please check if the issue is resolved after each:

    1 - Clear Cache and Cookies for Google

    • Go to Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Clear browsing data → Choose what to clear.
    • Select Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files, then click Clear now.
    • Restart Edge and try signing in again.

    2 - Disable Extensions Temporarily

    • Some extensions (like ad blockers) can interfere with sign-in.
    • Go to Settings → Extensions and toggle them off.
    • Restart Edge and try logging in again.

    3 - Check Edge Setting

    Site Permissions

    • Navigate to Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data.
    • Ensure Allow sites to save and read cookie data is enabled.

    Reset Edge Settings

    • Check for updates under Settings → About Microsoft Edge.
    • Go to Settings → Reset settings → Restore settings to their default values.
    • This won’t delete your favorites but will reset startup and search settings.

    4 - Try InPrivate Mode
