Is Apple more reliable with old programs or do they also trash your years of work like Microsoft is doing with Publisher?

I will try this, thank you. I do not understand why, when they eliminate a program, they can't sell the last version directly to us to work offline only. Using their programs means we use our own creativity to use what they provide, whether it is writing a letter, a short story, or publishing a calendar or book. It feels like stealing when they shut us off and don't offer a permanent disk version of anything. It feels like they are burning the library. We could print our own disks and pay them.

Years and years ago when I got my first personal computer I had to make a choice between Microsoft Money and Quicken. After using both for a short period and finding they were nearly the same functionally, I needed to eliminate redundant work and chose Money, assuming Microsoft was going to be around for a long time. You know what they say about assumptions. Anyway, Money was discontinued. However, Microsoft provided a "sunset edition" that would not receive enhancements but would provide the user continued access to their data and continued use of much of the functionality. Some functionality, like on-line banking was disabled, but at least the customer could still use the app. Discontinuation of on-line services ended in 2011 and I am still using the sunset version today. Microsoft could have/should have decided to do the same thing with Publisher. Elimination of access to years of work is a bad way to treat customers.
