OUTLOOK EMAIL CONTACTS NOT AUTO FILLING

Outlook Web is not displaying auto-complete suggestions when composing new emails. Contacts are present in Outlook People and sync correctly, and auto-complete works fine on iOS. The issue is only in Outlook Web (Mac/PC browsers). I have cleared and rebuilt the Auto-Complete list, toggled the setting, tested multiple browsers, and imported contacts — still no effect.

    Dear sanjeev patel,

Thank you for posting your question to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand that your Outlook on the Web is not providing auto-complete suggestions when composing emails. I can see you've already performed extensive troubleshooting, such as clearing the list through settings and testing on multiple browsers. Thank you for providing those details, it's a great help.

It sounds like you've already tried all the standard fixes. When auto-complete works on mobile but not on the web, it often points to a specific issue with how the web version of Outlook manages its suggestion cache, which is separate from your main contacts list.

Let's try a more direct reset of this specific cache.

    1. Hard Reset the "Suggested People" Data

The most likely solution is to manually clear your "Suggested people" data. This is a different cache from the one cleared in the standard mail settings menu and often resolves this exact problem.

    • Click the Settings gear icon (⚙️) in the top-right corner of Outlook on the Web.
    • Go to the General tab on the left.
    • Select Privacy and data.
    • In this section, locate the Suggested people option.
    • Click the Clear data button. This will perform a hard reset on the potentially corrupted list.
    • IMPORTANT: After the data is cleared, ensure the toggle switch for this feature is turned back ON.
    • Finally, please sign out of Outlook and sign back in to start a fresh session.

    2. Manually remove any Remaining Incorrect Entries

After clearing the cache, if you still see any incorrect or old suggestions, you can remove them one by one.

    • Start composing a new email.
    • In the "To" line, begin typing the name or address you want to remove.
    • When the incorrect suggestion appears in the dropdown list, click the X on the right-hand side to delete it permanently.

Combining the cache reset with a fresh sign-in session is often the key to resolving this behavior. I hope these steps help you get your Auto-complete list works again on the web version. Feel free to let us know the results, I’ll be happy to guide you further and make sure you get this sorted out.
