Hi Microsoft,

We have a requirement to setup ASR on a 100 VMs, all running the Debian 12, kernel version - 6.1.0-40-cloud-amd64. When enabling replication the process fails on Installing Mobility Service and preparing target.

The ASR support matrix (link below) does not list this as a compatible OS. Do you have a timeline when this OS will be available in the ASR support matrix?

)

Meanwhile, are you able to provide any intermediary instructions to permit the setup of ASR in this case?

Many thanks,

    Hi ,

    Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

    Debian 12 with kernel version 6.1.0-40-cloud-amd64 is not currently listed in the ASR support matrix, which is why replication fails at the mobility service installation step. While Microsoft has announced support for Debian 12 in ASR, it does not cover all kernel variants, and no public timeline exists for when this kernel will be validated. In the interim, your only practical options are to switch to a Debian 12 kernel version already in the support matrix, attempt a manual installation of the mobility agent with matching kernel headers and dependencies, or request a hotfix/preview mobility service build through microsoft support. For large scale rollout (100 VMs?), I recommend testing kernel alternatives on a small subset and opening a support case
