Root Cause:

Authenticated Users Permission Issue:

The error occurs because authenticated users lack default Read permissions on the Computers container in Active Directory. This is required for cluster validation even when computer objects aren't actually stored in the default container.

AD Permission Requirements:

Windows Server 2022 failover clusters require that authenticated users maintain Read permissions on the default Computers container for cluster validation tests to complete successfully. This permission is necessary regardless of where the actual cluster computer objects are located.

Resolution Steps:

Grant Read Permissions to Authenticated Users:

Navigate to Active Directory Users and Computers on the domain controller. Enable "Advanced Features" under the View menu. Right-click the "Computers" container and select "Properties". Go to the Security tab and verify that "Authenticated Users" has Read permissions.
