My front order entry software requires the use of an older version of Microsoft Access 2010 and has been working fine however recently it is not opening properly and it appears to be trying to upgrade to a newer version to Access. Are there any fixes that you can recommend?

Hello. Could you let me know if you have a newer version of Office installed—such as Office 365 or Access 2016 or later, alongside Access 2010?

One possible approach is to set Access 2010 as the default program for Access files, open your database directly from within Access 2010, and add your folder as a Trusted Location in Access 2010.

These three methods may help, but their effectiveness depends on whether something is forcing the newer version to open your files, and how that’s happening (could you clarify what exactly is triggering the update or version switch?).

    Hi,

Which variant of Access 2010 do you have installed? The full version or the Runtime version?

What exactly happens when you try to start the software? Are you prompted for a reinstall of Office/Access 2010 or explicitely for a newer Office/Access version? Can you cite the wording or post a screenshot?

When posting a question it helps to post exact error messages. While the message may not mean something to you, it may help us diagnose the problem.

Have you talked to the vendor of your software? If your order entry software is no longer supported it might be time to upgrade.
