Thanks for reaching out. Here’s some troubleshooting steps that you can try:

    1.      VM Power/Provisioning steps- Make sure the VM is in Running/started state. If it’s deallocated/ stopped/updating, agent/extension won’t function.

    2.      VM agent presence and status- In the Azure Portal->VM->Properties check “Agent status”/”VM Agent status”, should be “Ready”. If it’s not ready, missing or blank you’ll need to install or repair the agent.

    3.      Agent Services on the OS- RDP into the VM and check that the Windows Azure Guest Agent (or equivalent, depending on OS) service is installed, set to Automatic and is running. Also check logs such as C:\WindowsAzure\Logs\WaAppAgent.log.

    4.      Network/WireServer Connectivity- The agent needs network connectivity to certain Azure infrastructure endpoints. One key IP is 168.63.129.16(WireServer) via ports 80 and 32526. Firewalls, proxy settings or incorrect static IP configuration can block this.

    5.      Extension States and Logs- In the Azure Portal->VM->Extensions, check each extension’s status. If they are falling, look into their logs (Windows: c:\WindowsAzure\Logs\Plugins.. / C:\Package\plugins..) for error messages.

    6.      Reapply/Redeploy/Restart- sometimes redeploying the VM (in Azure Portal “Redeplot+reapply”) or stopping & starting the VM can force state reset. Also ensure any OS updates or pending reboots are applied.

    7.      Install or Update Agent-if agent is missing or out-of-date, install the latest version. If corrupted, uninstall and reinstall.
