Can someone please assist me on how to sync my OneNote from my old Android phone (Samsung S23 Ultra) to my new Android phone (Samsung S25 Ultra)? I'm using OneNote on my desktop, and it syncs to my phone. If I go to my old device, I'm signed in with my gmail account. If I add my gmail account to my new device, there is an approval code sent somewhere, but I cannot see to find it on my phone (not Google of Microsoft authenticator apps).

I tried the following steps:

Step-by-Step Checklist to Sync OneNote Between Android Devices

  1. Check Microsoft Account
  • Make sure you're signed into the same Microsoft account on both devices.
  • Go to Settings > Accounts in OneNote and confirm the email address.
  1. Ensure Internet Connection
  • Confirm both devices have a stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data).
  1. Update the OneNote App
  • On both phones, go to the Google Play Store and check for updates to OneNote.
  1. Force Sync
  • On the new phone:
    • Open OneNote.
      • Tap the notebook you want to sync.
        • Tap the three dots (⋮) > Sync Now.
  1. Check Notebook Location
  • If the notebook is stored locally on the old phone (not in the cloud), it won’t sync.
    • Open OneNote on the old phone.
      • Tap the notebook > check if it says “This notebook is stored on this device”.
        • If so, you’ll need to move it to OneDrive:
          - Tap the notebook > choose **Move** > select **OneDrive**.

  1. Clear Cache (if needed)
  • On the new phone:
    • Go to Settings > Apps > OneNote > Storage.
      • Tap Clear Cache (not Clear Data).
  1. Reinstall the App
  • If syncing still fails, uninstall and reinstall OneNote on the new phone. Step-by-Step Checklist to Sync OneNote Between Android Devices

    Hello,

Check which account you're signed into on OneNote on your desktop. The same account should be used on your new phone.

If you have two-factor authentication (2FA) set up on your Google account, sign in via desktop at: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/1064203?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop

and review your current 2FA settings there.
