Hi so we recently recieved a second hand laptop, it's rather dated back too Windows 8 being it's last update. I have been clearing and organizing folders already on the laptop that was not handled, but I've hit a snag with creating a blank folder for it to duplicate and become an application, I'm not sure what's the problem but when I delete it normally it goes away only to reappear. Please could someone help me?

    Hello Rain

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A and informed us about the issue. Based on your report, I believed that the issue could be due to a corrupted user profile, or the laptop may have contain a malware or unwanted software that cause the issue. Please try these steps:

    • Create a new user profile in Windows settings
    • Run a full system scan
    • Reinstall Windows

I also see that you've mentioned the laptop is running on Windows 8 and since Windows 8 has not received any new update since 2023 so that laptop could be expose to a lot of security risk in the future. I would advise update to the latest Windows OS such as Windows 11 so that the laptop can received latest security update and you can try out many new features too, please refer to this topic on How to install Windows 11
