    Hello linda cole,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A and informed us about the issue. From your report, I understand that you're trying to update to Windows 8. However, Windows 8 has not received any new update since 2018, therefore I would advise upgrade to the latest Windows OS version such as Windows 11 so that you can received better security for your PC. You can refer to this topic on How to install Windows 11

Since you're using a PC running Windows 7, it is likely that your PC don't support TPM 2.0 which is necessary for an upgrade, please refer to these topics about Windows 11 system requirement and Windows 11 minimum hardware requirement

    Hi Linda,

Sorry, but there is no way a PC that was

running Windows 7 or 8 would be able

to run Windows 11. Please don't even try.
