Why does Teams change status based on a scheduled meeting?

It changes status to "In a meeting", even if I don't join the meeting.

Teams status should reflect my current availability, not my calendar. (THESE ARE TWO DIFFERENT APPS)

This makes it difficult to understand whether a person is truly busy or not.

    Dear @Suleman Khalid

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, I understand how frustrating it can be when it changes status to "In a meeting even if you don't join the meeting. Could you please let us know that issue occurs on Teams web or Teams desktop app?
In the meantime, here are some suggestions you can try

    1. Have you tried to reset status of your account?

if not, try to click Status below your account profile in Teams--> then choose Reset status as attached screenshot below

    2. Un****register the new Teams as the chat app for Microsoft 365

    1. Open the New Teams app on your desktop.
    2. Click 3 dots beside your profile picture (top-right)
    3. Go to Settings → General.
    4. Uncheck the box: “Register Teams as the chat app for Microsoft 365”.
    5. Restart Teams and Outlook to apply changes.

I hope information above helpful, if you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out
