would a virus checker do it for me?
i cant afford a new computer, this is windows 7 bought 2011 - 1Tb (huge at the time). My photos music etc all my files total 700GB but i have only 300mb space. virus ran out years ago but i couldnt afford to buy, but only go on a few welknown websites. i had a search on this forum, so registered to ask for help when i read that temp files can take space up and not be deleted by disc cleanups.
So i had a search on my C drive and found 700 files totally 96GB in the windows folder! What a shock! they are "Temp30ish random numbers & letters-signatures" Most dated since 2020-2025. wondering if this coincides with when updates from microsoft stopped working.
I need to be sure if it lets me delete them it wont effect the computer because i cant download replacement programs that were first loaded when i bought it (Dell no longer recognise my tag so i cant log on to dell - wont buy dell again!). I really need word photoshop adobe internet!
More info below. appreciate any help. thanks to anyone who can help me.
My computer has 100-500mb left of space despite daily deleting programs, folders and doing lots of disk clean ups. i should have created over 10gb in the last few days alone but within a few minutes of using the computer 1 gb reduces to 100mb! im unable to use the computer, just basically trying to free up space, but need space to physically open view photos! getting to point of downloading everything to USBs /HD and reformatting! but that might remove my programs i need -if only id said yes 45 years ago when i was offered job re programming computers but i did photography and maths degrees instead (for fun!) because i said "computers wont catch on what a waste of time!" yep hilarious i know!! so i cant get my head around computers at all!! And i dont want to do something that'll wreck my computer. i have decided to get virus protection now.
Weird 700 files each about 180mb total 96GB info =
