Software update report - Mac devices

Per-device declarative Apple software update report.

You can now access a per-device software update report for Apple devices in Microsoft Intune. This report leverages Apple’s built-in declarative reporting infrastructure to provide near real-time visibility into the software update status of managed devices.

To view this report, navigate to Devices in the Intune Admin Center, select the relevant device, and under the Monitor section, you will find the report listed as iOS software updates for iOS or iPadOS devices, and macOS software updates for macOS devices.

This new report is available for devices running iOS 17 and later, iPadOS 17 and later, and macOS 14 and later. It includes details such as pending OS update information (including OS and build version and status), current OS information, reasons for update installation (e.g., user-initiated or enforced via DDM), and information about the latest public update from Apple.

Please note that with the introduction of this new report, the previous macOS per-device Software Updates report is now deprecated. While it remains temporarily available in the admin center, it will be removed in a future Intune update.
