Face API Resource Not Detecting Faces or Returning Results – Request for Urgent Assistance

I am experiencing a critical issue with my Azure Face API resource and require your assistance.
Despite following all official documentation and using the correct SDK (azure-cognitiveservices-vision-face), my Face API resource is not detecting any faces in images, including the official Azure sample image (Family1-Dad1.jpg).

I have verified the following:

  • The API key and endpoint are correct and from the Face API resource.
  • The resource is active and in the East US region.
  • I am using the latest SDK and have tested with both video frames and static images.
  • The API call returns no errors related to authentication or endpoint, but always returns “No faces detected” or “No faces detected or video could not be processed.”
  • I have also tried creating and using new images, but the result is the same.

Additionally, the Resource Health in the Azure Portal shows “Unknown” for both Availability Status and Title, with the summary:

“We are currently unable to determine the health of this Cognitive Services resource.”

Troubleshooting Steps Already Taken:

  • Verified and re-entered API key and endpoint.
  • Tested with known good images from Azure’s own sample set.
  • Upgraded the SDK to the latest version.
  • Checked for quota issues and resource health in the Azure Portal.
  • Attempted to create and use the resource from different networks.
  • Attempted to use the resource in a new region (if applicable).

Request:

Please investigate the following:

  1. Is there a service outage, misconfiguration, or limitation affecting my Face API resource?
  2. Is there a known issue with Face API in the East US region or with my subscription?
  3. Can you provide guidance or a solution to restore full functionality to my Face API resource so it can detect faces as expected?Despite following all official documentation and using the correct SDK (azure-cognitiveservices-vision-face), my Face API resource is not detecting any faces in images, including the official Azure sample image (Family1-Dad1.jpg). Hello Farhan !

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Learn.

The older azure-cognitiveservices-vision-face SDK is deprecated so you need to use the new azure-ai-vision-face or call the REST API directly.

    https://pypi.org/project/azure-cognitiveservices-vision-face/

and upload bytes if your images live behind a firewall or private endpoint since URL detection requires public reachability.

Face is gated to approved use cases and tenants and if your subscription wasn’t approved, some capabilities may be restricted so you need to validate your access status with Microsoft.

The unknown usually means Azure hasn’t received telemetry from the resource and not necessarily an outage so it can be transient or an issue with the configuration.
