    Dear Alex,

Thank you for reaching out to us. I understand how inconvenient it must be to have your OneNote on Android showing as "read-only" for over a month, especially when it works normally on your PC. I’m here to help you resolve this issue.

To assist you better, could you please help us with the following details?

    1. Account Type: Are you using a personal Microsoft account (e.g., Outlook.com, Hotmail.com) or a work/school account provided by your organization?
    2. Notebook Source: Is the notebook stored in OneDriveSharePoint, or another location?
    3. Sync Status: On your Android device, do you see any sync errors or warnings in OneNote?
    4. App Version: Have you updated the OneNote app recently? If not, could you try updating it from the Google Play Store?
    5. Permissions: Are you the owner of the notebook, or was it shared with you? If shared, do you know if your permissions were changed recently?

Once we have this information, we’ll be able to guide you through the appropriate steps to restore full access on your Android device.

Thank you again for your patience and cooperation. We look forward to resolving this for you soon.

    Warm regards,

    Dear Alex Noname,

Thank you for your update. I’m glad to hear that opening OneNote initially did not show the problem, but I understand it reverted to “read-only” status after you made changes to a note.

This behavior can sometimes occur due to syncing conflicts or permission issues. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the read-only status:

    1. Check Notebook Permissions:
Ensure you have edit permissions for the notebook, especially if it is shared or stored on OneDrive or SharePoint.
    2. Sync the Notebook Manually:
    • In OneNote, go to File > Info.
    • Select the notebook and click View Sync Status.
    • Click Sync All to force a manual sync.
    1. Close and Reopen the Notebook:
Sometimes closing the notebook and reopening it can reset the status.
    2. Check for Multiple Devices:
If you have the notebook open on multiple devices, make sure all are connected and synced properly to avoid conflicts.
    3. Update OneNote App:
Ensure your OneNote app is updated to the latest version available.
    4. Try Using OneNote Online:
Open the notebook in OneNote Online to check if the issue persists there.

I truly hope you understand that the initial steps I suggested may not have completely resolved the issue, as there might still be underlying causes we haven't uncovered yet. Please know that I’m here with you every step of the way, ready to work together and do everything I can to help troubleshoot and find the best solution.

Please feel free to let me know how it goes or if you need any further assistance. If the solution I suggested doesn't work on your machine, just let me know. I’ll be here to check and provide more options.

If the information above is helpful, kindly mark it as an answer. This will also assist others in the community who may have similar questions complexity.
