I am attempting to sign up for the Microsoft 365 Developer Program and set up my free E5 subscription, but I am encountering an issue during the phone number verification step. After entering my phone number, I receive the following error message:

"We can't continue with the signup process right now due to an internal server error. Please try again later."
MS-CorrelationId: 00000000-0c2f-4132-aeb5-13b919608436
Error Code: 50001

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Navigate to the Microsoft 365 Developer Program Join Page.
  2. Log in using my Microsoft account.
  3. Enter required details, including company name and development preferences.
  4. Proceed to the phone verification step and enter a valid phone number.
  5. Upon submission, I receive the 50001 Internal Server Error, preventing me from completing the signup process.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

  • Tried different web browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)
  • Cleared browser cache and cookies
  • Attempted incognito/private browsing mode
  • Tried different phone numbers
  • Checked Microsoft Service Status, but no related issues were reported
  • Waited several hours and retried the process multiple times

Request for Assistance:

  • Can you confirm if this is a known issue with the Developer Program signup process?
  • Is there a workaround or a way to manually verify my phone number to proceed with account creation?
  • Are there region-based restrictions that might be causing this issue? (I am US Based)

I appreciate any guidance or support on resolving this issue. Thank you for your time!

    Dear EscobarBLUE

Good day! Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community. We'll be happy to help!

First of all, we regret for the inconvenience caused to your work. Based on your description, I have a general understanding of your question, since we focus on Microsoft 365 Business Communication Online technical support, this is not professional for developer mode, lacking certain permissions and knowledge. So to help you better, no more time wasted on you. I recommend that you seek help from a dedicated team dedicated to developer subscriptions, where technical engineers specialize in these related issues and experts will focus on queries to further assist you. For details, please kindly refer to Visual Studio Subscription Support - Visual Studio (microsoft.com)

In addition, please also kindly create a query in here - Developer Communities (microsoft.com). We believe they would conduct in-depth of the given issue and provide you a more professional suggestion.

Meanwhile, if you still need further help, I really want to help you, and I'm consulting your thread with my team members, and I'd like to share some more specific redirect information with you, but our forum lacks relevant permissions and tools, in fact Microsoft has a separate team resource where our most valuable professional engineers and members can provide possible information for your issue, then please trust that for the issue you mentioned, they can give you more professional support. So to help you better and not waste more of your time, I highly recommend you to check following information

    Image

During the phone call, please answer some questions, to reach the support, better use some keywords like your problem regarding your account within developer business subscription. And you will need to provide the information you have received through your subscription, such as: Your company name, billing information, phone number, alternate email address, etc.

Thank you in advance for your understanding. Your patience and cooperation will be highly appreciated. I hope for all the best!

    Sincerely

    Kerry Chen | Community Moderator

I'm having the same issue. I called Micrsoft support in my region and was told that they can't help me, because this is a Developer Program issue, not a Support Issue. I was then redirected to another page on MS Web Site to log an email with DevSupport, but the email address is broken and the emails just bounce.

Not sure where to go from here?

I'm having the same problems on all fronts mentioned here.

    • 50001 During sign up process
    • Calling Support to be redirected to the page with an email that doesnt work

It would be good if we can resolve these issues. Its holding up projects and development work.
