Cannot log into Personal Microsoft account on Onenote Android

Adding Onenote to new Pixel 9 Pro.

Running into issues with annoyingly duplicated Microsoft accounts using the same email.

All other services allow me to muddle my way through this inane error by choosing Work/School account (the main one) or Personal account Created By Me (accidentally the host of all my OneNote books). This prompt is absent on OneNote Android.

OneNote keeps automatically defaulting to the Work/School account and gives me Zero way to add the Personal account with the same email.

Any attempt to enter the email results in it thinking I must be stupid, and helpfully routing me back to the Work/School account that is already added. Therefore all of my notebooks fail to sync. I have deleted and reinstalled OneNote.

I am logged in with the Work/School account on Outlook Android already and that was a whole stupid song and dance that I don't want to repeat if at all possible.

How do I get this program to realize that there are two accounts linked to the same email.

Alternatively, how do I migrate all of my notebooks to the Work/School account and close the Personal one for good?

Lmao even this website is beefing it. I've got my Work/School profile picture in the header at top right, and the top of this post has my Personal profile picture. What a joke

    Hi,CJ Atkinson

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are having problems logging into your account in Android OneNote.

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues in OneNote. An email can only be tied to one Microsoft account, so you cannot link two Microsoft accounts to the same email.

However, you can take a notebook from one account and transfer it to another account.

You can do this by opening the OneNote desktop app on your computer, signing in with your personal account and exporting all your notebooks. Then switch to your Work/School account and import those notebooks. The steps are as follows:

Open the OneNote desktop application and select the notebooks you want to export.

Click File > Export > Select Notebooks > Select the export format (e.g. OneNote Package File).

Switch to your work/school account and click File > Import > select the exported file to import.

    Synchronize using OneDrive:

Ensure that both your personal and work/school accounts are connected to OneDrive. move notebooks from your personal account to OneDrive in your work account, and then open those notebooks in your work/school account.

If you want to permanently close your personal account, check out the link below:

This is pure ****. One more Microsoft limitation/failure. I could do this with no issues on older pixel 1 & 2. I am sure it is "by design", the typical response when Microsoft wants to excuse poor design!
