How do I add correctly-numbered items to a pre-existing numbered list in a Microsoft Loop document?

A couple of weeks ago, I created a numbered list in a Loop document. Today I needed to add a couple of items to the end of the list. I place my cursor at the end of the last item and hit Return, but that only goes to a new line that says "Just start typing". I start typing, but a new numbered item isn't created. It's just my text as if Loop has no idea that I'm trying to add an item to a numbered list.

Is it possible to return to a numbered list and add numbered items to it?

Thanks!

    Hello Phil Puccio

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community Forum.

I understand that you're having trouble adding numbered items to a pre-existing numbered list in Microsoft Loop. This issue can occur if the numbering format of the list has been changed or if there is a formatting issue with the list.

To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Place your cursor at the end of the last item in the numbered list.
    2. Press Enter to create a new line.
    3. Click on the "Numbered list" button in the formatting toolbar at the top of the page.
    4. Start typing your new item. It should automatically be numbered correctly.

If this doesn't work, you can try copying and pasting the existing numbered list into a new Loop document and then adding your new items to the list in the new document.

If you're still having trouble, please let me know and I can provide further assistance.

    Sincerely,

Thanks, ReynaldoB. I'm trying to do as you suggest, but I don't have a formatting toolbar at the top of the page. Here's the top of the page:

I don't see where I can even turn on a formatting toolbar. There are no menus available.

    Please advise. Thank you!

    Hi Phil Puccio

If that's the case, I would recommend posting a feedback directly on this website Loop · Community (microsoft.com) for you to get the right answer. As much as I would love to help you, I only have limited information about Microsoft Loop. It is best if you post your concern on the Microsoft Loop feedback so that other experts would be able to provide their insights and help you in resolving your problem.

    I really apprecitae your time.

    Sincerely,
