Shared camera video quality seems low in Teams meetings. Quite a bit of pixilation. Is there preferred cameras or camera setting to use?

Looking for hardware suggestions to improve video quality as well as optimized settings for both PC and Mac users.

Hi there Emily! I'm Lumie. There are a few ways of increasing the quality of your videos in Teams.

One way is to ensure you have good internet. You may need to increase your bandwidth, preferably anything over 10-20 MBPS per second for each person. Another is lighting, the best lighting is straight on and it needs to be bright enough for where the camera does not have to fill in the frame with pixels.

In terms of hardware, for good quality meetings you would need 1080p and 30 fps cameras. 60 fps is even better but can be expensive and unnecessary. This is unlikely to be the case for a basic laptop's built-in lens, however you can always research their specs to see if this is correct. Logitech have very high quality webcams which can suit this if you want an elevated calling experience.

Another trick can be to change your camera settings for Windows if you got this link: [https://support.microsoft.com/windows/open-the-camera-in-windows-8da044ed-c4a8-2fb4-da51-232362e4126d]

And click Open Camera. Select the gear on the top left corner than scroll down to Video Quality. You can change this to the highest levels possible, a higher resolution is always better as mentioned before, 1080p 30-60fps are good benchmarks.

For MacBook this customisation is more limited but you can use OBS to emulate these changes, here is a useful forum for by . Tech:[https://answers.microsoft.com/thread/8b148939-c663-46c2-bb40-ef9908403d67]

Of course its also good to use a cloth to rub down your cameras as this can effect your photo quality. I hope these tips help you! =)
