Cannot install Teams on Mac

Good afternoon

I am trying to install MS Teams on an iMac 2019 (running the latest version of MacOS Ventura), but every time I do, I get the message the installation failed. The installer encountered an error that caused the installation fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

I also noted that, when I run the installer pkg, the menu shows MS Teams Update, which is strange because MS Teams is not installed.

To make sure MS Teams was not installed I went through a checklist posted in this community. There is no trace of MS Teams in the computer.

If anyone has any advice, I am forever grateful.

    Hello OLIVEIRA A,

I’m Segunfunmi, an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. Thanks for posting the query here in this forum.

Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble installing Microsoft Teams on your iMac. Here are a few steps you can try:

Check Privacy Settings: In your System Settings, check the Privacy Settings. In the Files and Folders category, the Installer app needs to have access to the Downloads folder or else you can get an error when trying to install.

Quit Teams: If Teams is still running, right-click the Teams icon in the dock, and then select Quit, or press Command (⌘)-Q.

Clear Cache: Enter the following command in Terminal: rm -r ~/Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft/Teams. Then, restart Teams.

Reinstall System: If the problem persists, boot into the Recovery volume and reinstall the system.

Check Compatibility: Check if your Mac is compatible with MacOS Ventura.

Create New User: Create a new user with admin permission on mac and try installing the Teams app.

Please let me know if these steps help or if you need further assistance.

    Kind regards, Segunfunmi.

    Good morning

Thank you so much for coming back to me on this!

Here's my answer to your suggestions:

    1. Quit Teams: Teams is no longer installed, so can't do that.
    2. Clear Cache: I used the command you mentioned, the answer was no file with that name in the system
    3. Reinstall System: Sorry, not doing that, Teams is the only problem I have, all other apps are working fine.
    4. Check Compatibility: checked, iMac 2019 has all the specs required
    5. Create New User: haven't tried that yet, I will need to find the time. I am the admin of the computer so not sure if that would help.

    Thank you once again!
