Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F.

On 15/12/22 when attempting to download emails in Windows live Mail I started to get this error message: "Unable to send or receive messages for the ...........................................account. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Server: 'pop3.blueyonder.co.uk' Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F Protocol: POP3 Port: 110 Secure(SSL): No". Since then I have checked the settings, deleted any potentially suspicious email, tried downloading with the firewall set to allow live mail through, and run a reputable (I think) clean up and repair programme. All to no effect. The internet connection is fine and I am able to send and receive emails directly from the Virgin Mail platform. A Windows update is recorded on 14/12/2022. I am still using Windows 7 and wonder whether the problem is associated with the recent decision to stop support for Microsoft Edge with this platform. Grateful for advice as to how to make Live Mail usable again.

Thank you. I know that was the intention, but Microsoft seem to have to some degree relented. I received a "Microsoft Edge update for Windows 7 x64 based systems" on 25th June 2020. Hitherto the browser seems to have been maintained, but I understand that this has now stopped. I don't know whether any of this is relevant to the problems with Windows Live Mail but; as it has worked without any issues up to now, the coincident timing seemed worth noting.

Assuming that the maintenance of Microsoft Edge is not relevant the reason for the Live Mail error message remains to be identified.

99 times out of 100 that means your internet email provider is not giving you service for some reason. It almost always clears itself when they come back on line.

Now that you made so many changes, you may be in for trouble.

Check with the provider to ensure you have the correct settings, and that they have not stopped for some reason. It is also possible that your password is corrupted and needs to be reset

I have 93 clients using Windows 7. Most have WLM. These systems rarely fail. The problem is not Microsoft or Win7.

Hi Canadian Tech. I did use Virgin Media's online checker when the problem first emerged. Initially it said there were no issues affecting my area. Subsequently it indicated that my area might have some email problems, so I waited a couple of days and re-checked. It then said no issues and continues to do so. The settings have been returned to their exact configuration before the problem started, so I will try to get more direct confirmation from VM

I am grateful for your help.
