SQL Server is a very complex system with a wide architecture, so what are you looking for in detail?

A first start is SQL Server technical documentation

I had found this but I am thinking it is old and I was hoping for something updated.

    Hi @LCerni ,

We probably won't change the internals of SQL Server, the diagrams which you found are still accurate.
Here are some references for you to learn SQL server further:
    SQL Server Books Online
Introduction to SQL Server Internals and Architecture
SQL Server Architecture Explained: Named Pipes, Optimizer, Buffer Manager
    SQL Server Architecture Overview

    Best regards,

For anyone, I recommend the diagram from this credited source the "Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Internals" (though it too old)
