The "Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter" just showed up under "Network Adapters" in my Device Manager. Anybody know what this is? What is it for? And where does it come from?

    Hi PBylund,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community Forums.

I would suggest you to make sure debugging is turned off and check the status of the issue.

    a) Run this from an elevated command prompt:

    bcdedit /debug off

    b) If it’s still showing up, then you can disable it from the device manager without problems.

    Hope this information helps.

    Hi,

I also have that entry in the device manager.

I followed your advice and also disabled the deice.

Could you explain me what is the purpose of that device and if disabling it can cause problems to windows 8?

The device in question was installed by windows.

    Thank you

Since installing Windows 8 a few days ago, my computer will not automatically connect me to the internet. I have discovered that if I go to Device Manger, right click on Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter, click disable and OK and then right click the debug adapter again, click enable and restart my computer that when it restarts I am connected to the internet. This of course is a pain to do. Can someone help me fix this?

Did you ever have Microsoft do remote assistance with your computer. It's set up so that when  you restart to automatically reconnect with them, since restarting is frequently done during  troubleshooting. I ask because I did have remote assistance and found that on device manager afterwards.
