My firewall constantly asks me if I want to allow interprocess communication of an application. I cannot figure out what the application is: "application user_feed_synchronization-{9090ceca-849c-46e0-8a07-5f61fb8d338d}.job".

User_Feed_Synchronization updates your RSS feeds in IE 7/8.

That's the schedule to check websites for RSS updates.

You can turn it off if not using RSS to monitor a site.  Go to IE: Tools -> Content tab -> Feeds and Web Slices Settings button -> uncheck "Automatically check feeds..."

You can turn it off if not using RSS to monitor a site.  Go to IE: Tools -> Content tab -> Feeds and Web Slices Settings button -> uncheck "Automatically check feeds..."

    In my IE10 (x64 and Win7), it's "Tools/Internet Options (at the bottom of the pop-up list)/Contents Tab/ Feeds & Web Slices/(click on the) Settings (button)/ untick "Auto....".

Just to be naughty, I also unchecked "Web Slices discovery".

In "Scheduled Tasks" the task vanished for my userid when I did this but the other users were not affected. I suspect they would have been when they logged in but I disabled the task using my all-powerful "Me" account.

Thanks, Kingdomer, this was very useful.
