Brilliant! Really pleased that another person has successfully used my solution to restore all their tabs! - Thanks very much indeed for taking the time to let me know 😀.

Why can't Edge just have a "Restore Previous Session" button available when Edge unexpectedly shuts down? Firefox is a breeze with that feature. Edge has the user going through all sorts of time-consuming and confusing gyrations to get to the previous session (a "session" being all the tabs that were open before the site crashed or the computer did an update/restart). Microsoft Edge should be an improvement, not a fail.

Your solution really gives me hope, but it still hasn't worked for me yet.
I need your follow-up advice !!
Now I lost my previous session and all its 100+ tabs, and have a new session open where I search for solution and see your answer here. Here's what I did following your steps :
C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\Sessions
Thanks in advance :)
p.s. I copied the (larger) lost old session and tabs files to my Document folder and hopefully it can be reused if ever they got eaten.
Hi Guoan,
Thanks for your post!
Glad you copied the larger old session and tab files, that is exactly what I did in case I needed them again 😀.
So, first, before you do anything else, in Edge, if you could just hit the three dots (top right), then Settings, then “Start home and new tab page” then on that page make sure it definitely looks exactly as below, i.e. that the “Open tabs from previous session” is showing as checked, exactly as mine is below, that is what makes it look at the session and tabs files page to pick up your last session every time edge is restarted, so if that isn't checked my solution cannot work.
As you have copied your old session and tab files you can retry the following as many times as you like, 😀 and hopefully it will, work at least once, which is of course all you need!, not sure why it hasn't worked already to be honest, unless of course the above option isn't checked.
So, just to clarify, you just need to go to the page which shows the session and tab files, then once you have closed edge completely and there are definitely no other instances of edge open anywhere, make sure you delete every single session and tab file showing on that page, then, paste back in the single session file and the single tab file you have kept copies of, then reopen edge and it should pick up all the session and tab file information in those two files on that page as that is what it is programmed to do (per above), and hopefully it should work this time, actually you probably will not get up the "Restore previous session" message, as that I do not think comes up anymore at least it doesn't whenever I restart my computer it just reloads all the different windows and tabs automatically, just be a bit patient while it loads them, and then hover on your Edge icon at the bottom of the page in your taskbar for a while, then maybe click on it if still no joy.
Hopefully the above works for you 🤞🤞🤞.
It worked, thank you so much for saving me hours spending on this
