VPP App (Device) License lifecycle within Microsoft Intune

Today we stumbled across something which is very annoying. Currently we are running several Intune instances (different Tenants - partly for more than 6 years) for our customers, supporting/configuring all mobile OS. Most of our customers use Apple Business Manager for Ex-DEP/VPP. Today we realized that VPP App device licences do not get back automatically when a device is deleted/wiped within Intune. We checked with the MS Guides and yes - that is a fact.

But WHY??? This will blow the device offboarding process out of proportion.

SO - this is a Feature Request for Microsoft changing this behaviour.

If a device is deleted/wiped from MS Intune all VPP licences automatically should be back in the licence pool.

It took us years to discover this because we always took an amount of 9000 per App.

So please Microsoft - please change this!
