We didnt turn on Bitlocker but after an update its on and won''t allow us access to the computer

We are experiencing a critical issue with our computer after a recent update. BitLocker appears to have been enabled, but we did not turn it on and when we were able to access the site for the recovery key it didn't work despite multiple checks and entries.

The system displays BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) alerts occasionally during reboot, and after restarting, it blocks entry altogether. We are unable to access the BIOS, and the recovery options, including resetting the system, are not working.

We’re completely locked out of the device and need assistance to resolve this issue.

This is a Windows Surface running on a Windows 11 OS.

    Hello,

In my experience, the computer may automatically encrypt itself after some system changes or hardware replacement.

The only solution in this case is to reinstall the system or you can try to enter safe mode to restore the point in time.

    Have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

    Hania

    Good morning, Hania,

We have attempted your suggestions but are unable to access Safe Mode. When we try to reset the system, whether using the cloud or internal files, it shows an error stating there isn’t enough storage space. This is confusing, as the computer had plenty of available storage before this issue began, and we cannot access the system to clear any space.

Is there an alternative solution we can try to work around this issue?

    Thank you for your assistance.

Unfortunately, there is no other way but to reinstall the system.
