How to I remove the Run-time error '1004', Method 'Name' of object 'Addln' failed. This Visual Basic for Applications window pops up every time I open Excel immediately after the new file appears, when I invoke "New" from the File menu and when I open any existing Excel file.

It appears you have macro that executes whenever a worksheet opens. After dismissing the error, use Alt-F11 to display the macros in PERSONAL.xlsb. If you cannot figure out which one is problematic, show us the first few lines of each.

I found the solution for Mac users! Go to the menu Tools on the top of your screen and drop down to the Excel Addins menu. A dialogue box will open listing all the Addins. For me the problem addin was Acrobatexceladdin. I deselected that and the problem went away.

I did the same with unchecking the Acrobatexceladdin, it only lasts for those excel that are saved and sometimes not even then.

Seems to work for me. I can open new workbooks w/o the error pop up.
