If you have only a few lines of code that is specific to a particular webpage, then it is better to keep your JavaScript code internally within your HTML document. On the other hand, if your JavaScript code is used in many web pages, then you should consider keeping your code in a separate file. In that case, if you wish to make some changes to your code, you just have to change only one file which makes code maintenance easy. If your code is too long, then also it is better to keep it in a separate file. This helps in easy debugging.

Well, you can get some markup, but all of that content was from a database, and is created by code behind. So, just a cut + paste of a page only going to get you some markup, but will NOT result in a working web site. Such CMS (Content management systems) use code behind to pull data from a data base, and THEN display the page. so, going to a page will only get you the content that the site decides to dish out - but that one page could result in a 100 different pages of content being rendered. I suppose if the site is just a few pages, then fine, but for any real re-creating of that whole site? Then you need some code behind, since those sites are not even "close" to being static sites, but in fact are data driven content pages. The data and content that "creates" or "drives" the web page is in fact stored in a database. Each actual page for the site often does not exist as a real page, but is a template that is "filled out" by code behind + database operations. So, I suppose you can "save" the pages from the site, but it not really going to get you correct navigation, and what a page actually changes and displays will "depend" on the code behind pulling the bits and parts from a database that is what makes WordPress sites rather useful.
